Bronx, NY (Sports Network) - New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia was put on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday due to a Grade 1 groin strain.

Due to the All-Star break, the left-hander is only expected to miss a pair of starts.

In 15 games this season, Sabathia has fashioned a 9-3 record with a 3.45 ERA. He has thrown one complete game. With two more wins this year, Sabathia will record at least 11 victories in each of his first 12 seasons in the majors. He would become one of four pitchers in the modern era (since 1900) to accomplish the feat, joining Don Sutton (first 17 seasons, 1966-82), Eddie Plank (first 16 seasons, 1901-16) and Tom Seaver (first 13 seasons, 1967-79).

Sabathia has been a work horse, having thrown at least 100 pitches in each of his last 23 regular season starts.

Freddy Garcia, who is 1-2 with a 6.91 ERA in 13 games (4 starts), will take Sabathia's spot in the rotation.
