The Fat Lady Can Take a Seat (for now)

Going into the game on Sunday night, against the Dallas Cowboys, the Philadelphia Eagles were facing a dreary record of 2-4, leading the league in turnovers, talk of whether or not Andy Reid should be returning for his 14th year as the head coach was being tossed around, and many of the Eagles’ faithful were waiting for the fat lady to sing.  Instead, the Fat Man (Andy Reid) found a way to get his 13th win after a bye and it happened against the team’s most hated division rival to shame the Cowboys 34-7.
The Eagles had been underachieving since picking up six former Pro Bowl players in the very short offseason due to the lockout, and all of the hype may have gotten in their heads.  Sunday night was a good test and show of what this team is really capable of doing.  Everything was clicking and I think the Cowboys were in shock.  The defensive line was attacking with four sacks, one interception, and held Dallas to only 267 total yards.  Not a good day if you have any Cowboys on your fantasy team.

For the first time all season the offensive line came together and allowed Michael Vick time to  go 21/28 for 279 yards which isn’t a huge game, but they also helped clear the way for LeSean McCoy and his 30 carries for 185 yards with two touchdowns.  There were several other contributors on this team that after looking at the stats it looked as if the Eagles finally played as a team for the first time all season.  However, there is still a lot of football left this season.  Only time will tell if last Sunday was the beginning of a new season for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Stern Making Up for the Losses?

The NBA (No Basketball Association) has fined the owner of the Miami Heat, Micky Arison, $500,000 for a reaction on Twitter to a comment. WHAT?! Yes, it was a violation of the league’s policy  that no league official – including owners, executives, front office personnel or coaches – are allowed to speak about the particulars of the lockout.  Good grief man, not even Mark Cuban has been hit with a fine this big (all at once).  This is the largest fine that has ever been issued by the league.  Here’s what warranted the hit to Arison’s  wallet,

Twitter post: “How does it feel to be a part of ruining the best game in the world? NBA owners/players don’t give a damn about fans … Fans provide all the money you’re fighting over … you greedy pigs.”
Arison posted: “You are barking at the wrong owner.”

What I want to know is where is the $500,000 going since there currently is no play?
Maybe it’s David Stern’s way of collecting since Mark Cuban isn’t able to bark at referees and get fined since talks have broken off again and more games have been canceled.
